MATTEL - CARS - MARKETING GENIUS

I admit that I am obsessed with buying all the new release diecast Cars for Ben's collection.  And in my search for certain cars over the last several months, I have seen how it is a big business and huge in the collector's world, with eBay sellers making a killing, etc.

At last count, I think Ben had somewhere around 40 something Cars, with about 10 in reserve in the closet.  When I first started buying them, I saw all the variations of Lightning McQueen and was like "no way am I buying that one, it is the same car, it just has dirt on it (Dirt Track McQueen) or cactus pieces stuck on it (Cactus McQueen), and I'm definitely not buying that one, there are just a few speckles of black for 'bugs' in his mouth (Bug Mouth McQueen)" - now I/we have them all.  It is a sickness I admit it.

But until I found this blog, I never quite realized how crazy it was!  Here is a staggering line:
So, give or take, there will be a minimum of @150-300 CARS before 2008 is over - counting repeats on cards/in multi-packs and in sets.

And a little more on the craze, at this website you can buy factory sealed cases!!!

Dude...we're like famous again!!!

This just in....YOURS TRULY has a role in CITY OF CHAMPIONS , the hottest selling DVD in Boston right now (yeah I just made that part up).  Anyone that might have received this little gem under their Christmas Tree or Festivus Pole, etc....cue it up to minute 58 and you'll see me and Jody aka "Coach".  I have yet to see it myself (just ordered it tonight), but I can only assume it is footage of me and Jody dangling the infamous "Legends were made here, thanks for the memories GAAAHDEN" sign that Jody so diligently made for the last Celtics game at the ORIGINAL GARDEN.

Can't wait to see it myself.  And I thought being on the front page of the Herald along with the Ivy League Stripper was cool enough...and now our 15 minutes of fame goes on!

(Thanks to Barry and Garvey for this BREAKING NEWS!)

Well....It's about Time!

B0006sstdq01tzzzzzzz_1March 1st, 2005 will go down as a great day in DVD release history.  After years of wondering by people such as, well ME....a Hoosiers Collector's Edition is finally being released!  I have watched this movie hundreds of times, literally.  Easily one of my top 5 favorite films of ALL-TIME and undoubtedly my favorite sports themed movie.  And finally, a 2 disc collection with a bunch of deleted scenes, director commentary, etc, etc.  I am speechless in my excitement.  I have a hunch I am not the only one.

And to make it that much sweeter, I have been holding onto a $15 Gift Card to Best Buy for about a month now.

"My team's on the floor" Coach Norman Dale

Deleted Scene News:  Just finished watching the deleted scenes. Wouldn't you know it, the mystery of how Buddy returns to the team was in deed filmed, but the scene was deleted.  Boston Sports Guy has written about this mystery on a few occasions, of all the scenes deleted I think this one should have made it.  But the directors said that scene was the one that had to go to keep the movie under 2 hours.  Whatever!

Some interesting Special Features:  Jack Nicholson was originally slated to play the role of Coach Dale; Bill Simmons is interviewed in the extras, that is all for now...still watching.

Definite must for the DVD Collection.
