What I learned from 3 Days in Vegas...

  • With all due respect to Gilbert, Arizona...Vegas will pretty much hold the title of "fastest growing city in America" forever.  When we got married there in 03, Treasure Island was kind of like the end of that side of the strip, in a few years it'll be the middle.
  • Being in an atmosphere with cigarette and cigar smoke wafting all over the place is weird.  And to see families wheeling their kids around in strollers through the smoke was even weirder.  It hasn't been in place for that long, but I think we take for granted how nice it is to not have to be subjected to second hand smoke on the regular anymore.
  • I am getting old.  For every retiree in Vegas, there are a hundred twenty something year old kids that make me ponder if they are old enough to have that fancy Eiffel tower themed drink they are proudly walking down the strip with.
  • On that note, the fashion with sunglasses in this country is out of control, how big can they really get?
  • If was guaranteed upon entering that I wouldn't be pulled up on stage to be embarrassed in front of thousands of people, I would have enjoyed Zumanity a lot more!  That being said, it was a great show and the naked chicks swimming in the fish bowl eight feet away from us was fantastic!
  • And last but certainly not least.  If there is a feeling in the world better than the hug you receive from your three year old kid upon returning from a mini vacation and the look of absolute glee on his one year old brother's face, please tell me what it is and I will call bullshit!

Welcome back from The Planet they call Vegas!

Austin, Texas has the title of Fastest Growing City, this year.

I HATE BUG EYE GLASS!!! Stop it please.

Try and call BS on this good feeling (what movie?):
"Rolled up aces over kings. Check-raising stupid tourists and taking huge pots off of them. Playing all-night high-limit Hold'em at the Taj, 'where the sand turns to gold.' Stacks and towers of checks I can't even see over."

Glad to see a new post Kull!

Ironic since the conference I was attending was in Austin last year.

No clue what movie that is from. But it's a great quote and I could have given the disclaimer of "best feeling other than winning tons of money", the hug from the kid is still a special feeling though.

Another thing I learned in Vegas: Lots of people struggle with elevators. I love seeing someone get in an elevator going up that they thing is going down, or vice versa, or start to get out when they think they are at the ground level only to realize they are on the 2nd floor, and a quick u-turn is required. Good times.

I have a friend that just move to Austin. Can't wait to go visit! I hear it is a great town.

Ed Norton's character from Rounders is where that quote is from!
