NKOTB
As I was driving to my basketball game last night, I was flipping radio stations and came across these guys cranking out their new song, Summer Time. I only needed to hear the chorus and a couple verses before I said to myself "these guys are freaking geniuses!" Here they are more than 20 years after bursting onto the scene and basically inventing the boy band craze, with a no doubt summer hit on their hands.
They know the drill, they did the boy band thing, did the producer thing, the solo thing, the acting thing, the celebrity dance thing. Now they pull off the infamous reunion album and tour to make a few more million. Genius. Check the lyrics to the song, pure bubble gum pop by guys that have to be pushing forty years old. But you know it will be on top of the charts, all over MTV, a top download on Itunes, popular ring tone, the whole nine. This song could suck, the album could suck. But their song will be one of those "summer songs" and make them lots of money. Since I am sure they all really need it!
FULL DISCLAIMER: I never owned an NKOTB album nor attended a show. But I always respected them from a music business perspective because obviously they had a good thing going and were the innovators for an entire genre of music. I once met Donnie, Jordan, Danny, and Jonathan at Whalom Park when Marky Mark Walberg performed on Center Stage (when he was only known as Donnie's white rapping brother). So before people break my balls in the comment section, simmah down!
The New Kids are back! I may be a little too excited :-) Check out this site and leave a message for the "kids"!

Kull... a New Kids post? Ouch. OK, I'll stow away my ballbreaking kit.
"pure bubble gum pop by guys that have to be pushing forty years old" = Genius? My first thoughts were "inappropriate", "awkward", "odd", and "a little creepy".
Next thing you know you'll be saying that LeBron James has no regard for human life! ;-)
Never liked them and don't expect this will change things. And I have serious doubts that these guys had anything to do with their own business success. I don't see them sitting around the table and brainstorm marketing and merchandising ideas. If they did anything but sign the paperwork put in front of them by their marketing and management people, then I will write an apology on my boxer shorts with a Sharpie and throw it to them from the front row of their concert.

Ha ha...well your words in reaction to the news are very accurate as well. I think a group can be all those things and be genius as well. And whether or not they had anything to do with it, their decision to come back is genius, IMO.
And I think they've all made some very good decisions in their lives, that is for sure.
I do have to admit, we did bust out their "GAMES" song which was like all bad ass for them in our dorm room in Miami from time to time!
And by the way, I have it on good authority that LeBron has absolutely no regard for human life, I have a source that told me that is true.

I just finished listening to that young singer Nasri on MYSPACE and his music is so great. He is actually behind the NKOTB comeback. He wrote the song “ click click click”, “Close to you” and co-wrote “ summertime ” with Donnie. He also is working on some other songs with the group according to the NKOTB website. Here’s the link I found.

My Favorite song is “NOT THE SAME” (myspace.com/nasriworld)
Check his myspace and add him as a friend because he always replies back with a thank you. He’s really hot too!!
GO NKOTB & NASRI
