Caleb's First Haircut

Last weekend, Caleb decided he needed to get cleaned up a bit before Easter dinner, so we took him to Snip Snaps in Stamford, CT for his first haircut!  Well, we were already in CT for the weekend, we didn't make a 3 hour trek to CT just for their haircutting services.  Anyway, Caleb needed his first cut 13 months before his big brother, Ben didn't step up to the big chair til the day before his 2nd birthday.

Caleb did very well.  In fact, we made the appointment for Benjamin but he was resisting the trim (strange because his first two haircuts were real smooth), so we plopped Caleb up in the race car and he was cool with it.  After seeing little bro get a trim, we were able to coax Ben up there with a magical lollipop.  So they were both looking sharp for the holiday.

Congrats to Caleb on this major milestone!

Friday Morning Weigh In #8 - BLACK Friday Edition:

208.5 LBS
(Previous  weigh ins: 224 - 219 - 217.5 - 214 - 213 - 210 - 208 - 207LBS)

DOH!

Tough week to say the least.  All the shit I said last week about resisting all the good Easter food and getting on the treadmill in CT.  Yeah kinda didn't go as I planned.  Then I came home from the long weekend and got sick and had a week full of catered lunches and dinners at work.  And I have worked out a grand total of once since I last posted about stupid weight loss.

I guess this shit happens.  Gotta get back at it now and bear down.  I might not win the contest but I'd still like to get south of 200lbs by "bathing suit season".

Caleb -11 Months Old

Poor Caleb, the victim of second child treatment to the fullest.  Two years ago, I was Super Bloggin Daddy throwing up a monthly post on Ben's progress, milestones, etc, etc.  Poor Caleb gets the shaft.

I'm sure I'll pay for it someday.  As he is quickly catching up to Ben in size, it won't be long before he is looking down at me and can kick my ass too!  I can see it now, arm wrestling his old man at 15 years old and giving me a little extra wrist twist to get back at me for not putting up monthly blog posts with his photographs.

Well, I will let the photo do the bloggin here.  Does the word cute do him justice?  Probably not.  You gotta see him express himself by doing his little "sit down dance" where he just bounces up and down, or when it almost seems like he is using heavy nose breathing to communicate or chant (yes that sounds weird but trust me if you see it, you'll appreciate the cuteness).  Then you can't get through a feeding without him graciously offering you a cheerio, pea, or whatever else is on his tray, for every bit you give him, he wants to share a bite with you.  Priceless.

As for milestones.  Little big man is still not technically crawling, yet if you leave the room for two minutes and come back, you'll discover him on the other side of the room having somehow managed to move 6 feet without crawling.  He is not pulling himself up yet, but he'll stand all day long around a coffee table if you prop him up like that.  He has already been to the chiropractor two more times then I have in my life (twice), to treat ear infections.  Hmm...let's see what else.  Okay that is all for now on the blue eyed bandit.  Gotta get some work done and get the red pen out to correct all my NCAA brackets!

Yeah, well at least it is still going in the right direction.  One pound in a week is nothing to get excited about contest wise but still happy with it on a personal level.  It was a challenging week.  From the green bagels at the office on St. Patty's Day to the delicious cookies on the table at the Wednesday afternoon seminar, my willpower failed me a few times.  And now with Easter and the mother in law's cooking staring me in the belly this weekend, I gotta step up my game and hit the treadmill in Stamford!

I also doubled my cardio yesterday, finally stepping it up to a full 60 minutes.  I should be able to do that again today with built in entertainment of March Madness games on the TV at the gym.  I have hit a bit of a plateau exercise and diet wise, so I need to crank up the workouts and get the calories burning.

I figure I have to lose about another 15 lbs to be in the running for the contest.  Six weeks to accomplish that, obviously very possible.  But it will take lots of hard work.  A pound a week ain't gonna GIT R DUN!

Useless...

I think I have bitched about this in this space before, but I always enjoy when I find a legitimate news source agreeing with me, PHONE BOOKS CAN SUCK IT!

Seriously, I don't think I need my second hand to count the number of times I have used a phone book in the last ten years.  And one of my last experiences came up empty handed anyway.  I suppose there are still a lot of folks that don't have the internets at their house and they can benefit from the books.  But please is there a list kind of like the "DO NOT CALL" list for Yellow Pages, Super Pages, Yellow Book, etc?  I want to sign up to say I don't want them and help save the earth.  Shit, some dude even wandered into my workplace and managed to find me in my office to sign for my company's books, I said "no way!"

Enough is enough.

Looking to kill time?

Click on this celebrity lookalike site from Boston.com.  These are reader submitted photos of people thinking they look like certain celebrities.  Or people submitting pics of their friends, etc.  Some of them are uncanny how much a normal person could look like a celeb, some of them were like me submitting a pic and saying I look like Brad Pitt.  Not sure how some of the people could get any idea they look like a certain celeb, like the dude that said he looked like Chris Farley, once you get past the fat white guy similarity, it's kind of over.

Anyway, I told myself I'd look at a few, and ended up through the whole batch of 37.  Enjoy!

Friday Morning Weigh In #6:

208 LBS
(Previous  weigh ins: 224 - 219 - 217.5 - 214 - 213 - 210LBS)

I continue to chip away and I am in the running for the $750 Biggest Loser Pot at my company, there are a couple guys ahead of me, but I still have a chance.  The biggest challenge for me will the the last week of the contest Kristin and I are in Las Vegas!  Ouch...to stroll into any buffet on the strip and not force down some reps will be tough.  I figure I gotta be down around 190 to win the contest, because some people are putting up big numbers.  I am getting back into a good routine at the gym now and have had absolutely no temptations to eat a muffin or bagel at work.  I am contemplating the "cheat day" that is often encouraged in weight loss programs.  I am sponsoring a pizza party at work today, so that is my chance.  And who am I fooling, I had company at the house last week and wolfed down a pulled pork sandwich, chili, and some chunks of Bambi wrapped in bacon....mmm-bacon!

However, I reached another milestone last week too with the all important tightening of the belt/going up a loop.  The scale can give you a great feeling, but there is really no better feeling in the world then when your pants start to feel a bit looser and you need to tighten up that strap of leather around your waist.  And on Tuesday night, I passed my "can you still dunk the basketball?" test.  After playing a full game, I threw down 2 out of 3 attempts.  This is always a good self test I put myself through to see what level of shape I am in.

Jody...keep posting your weights.  Don't worry about the ball breakers going on about your exact weight reports.  You're losing kid, and you'll look like LINK 68 before you know it!  Keep up the good work.

Speaking of losing...

...while I am dropping LBS, Kristin recently lost a big part of her body (hmm...that sounds creepy) when she got a 15 inch ponytail lopped off, and donated it to Wigs for Kids!

Sorry, no photos of the process, since she did it as a surprise.  But her new do' definitely looks cute and I appreciate it in many ways one being that I don't get whipped with hair when she rolls over in bed.

Friday Morning Weigh In #5:

210 LBS
(Previous  weigh ins: 224 - 219 - 217.5 - 214 - 213LBS)

Kickin it NINE DEUCE style, meaning this is the weight I tipped the scaled at my senior year of high school.  So that is always a goal of mine, to be able to say I weigh the same today as I did in high school.  Word!

Another minimal week for work outs too.  Fortunately had two basketball games early in the week.  But then had to take Caleb to the Chiro on Wednesday and myself to the Ortho yesterday.  Today, I should be able to get to the gym finally.  That being said, the ability to still shed 3 lbs since last week means my eating has been very good.  Monday night hoop league is over though, so it is back to an additional day of boring workouts at the gym...oh well.

At this point, I think I am among the leaders of the Biggest Loser contest at work.  Still nearly 2 months to go.  That $750 would be huge, but as long as I can keep up my personal weight loss and get down to around the 200 mark, I will be happy to have spent the $50 to kick myself into gear.
