Play that Funky Music White Boy

If anyone gives this book by Purple Lips to my kid, it'll be thrown in the trash!
So don't get any ideas!
Last Friday, Kristin and I had the chance to check out DMB at Fenway with Mark & Heather. Thanks to Colleen for hooking us up with the sweet tickets on the field, center stage. It's a very surreal feeling to be standing in the middle of the outfield at Fenway and checking out a great concert.
Here's a quick clip from early in the show. Enjoy!
I apologize for the Blair Witch shaky camera...couple pops at Beer Works will do that to ya!
I realize I neglected to do a 13 month post last month, and my updates have been much less frequent of late. I apologize.
This month, I decided to go with a different format:
"14 Things I love about Ben and being his Dad"
1) His Smile...Ben's grandpa wrote a great piece about this last week on his blog, check it out. I couldn't have said it any better.
2) His Giggle...and how it has changed as he has grown and is now almost a "todder giggle". I wish I knew a way to record it and use it as my ring tone.
3) How he clings to me or Kristin like a koala bear when he is tired, scared, or just wants some lovin. And when he's tired how he rests his head on your shoulder.
4) When I pick him up at daycare, walk into the room and just say his name, wait for him to notice, then watch him drop what he is doing and bee line it over to me, swinging his arms in excitement. Quickly makes you forget however bad the day might have been up to that point.
5) After we leave daycare and walk through the gym, how he waves to everyone he sees, like he is the Grand Marshall of a parade.
6) Watching him flirt with ladies of all ages. The kid has more game than his old man ever had!
7) "BA-LL" Ben can spot a ball from a mile away and wants to play with them all. Seeing those big bins in the grocery stores is a hoot.
8) His knack for real estate evaluation! As we were looking at a townhouse being renovated, Ben threw up all over the joint. We later found out that the place had tandem parking for 4 cars! Ben was trying to tell us he didn't like the place before we found that out.
9) Watching him eat...especially how he chews cheese. I don't know, it's just funny.
10) Watching him discover new things and how they work. Like when he grabbed the ceiling fan remote at Grampy's, pointed it to the ceiling and fired the fan up to full speed, this after watching Grampy turn it on just once.
11) Hearing him talk. He has a distinct language of "talking" on the phone that is different than his standard chatter. Of course I mean just play talking, cuz when you give him the phone to actually talk to someone on the other line, he just clams up and smiles. Or after a long day of playing with friends/cousins he'll yap the whole car ride home (or until he falls asleep), but it's like he is summarizing the entire day.
12) Realizing how freakin smart he is. A few weeks back, Kristin and I were getting ready for a wedding and Ben knew as soon as I was putting on my tie that something was different and we were leaving him with Grandma & Grandpa. He even tried to take my tie off so I would stay.
13) Watching him hug his friends/cousins. So damn cute, he just needs to learn to hug the body and not the head/neck of the smaller ones!
14) His determination. Check out the rest of the Flickr photos from 4th of July Weekend. Ben tried for about 30 minutes to empty that big ol' bucket of rocks. But damn it, Mommy kept putting them right back in. He didn't care, he was determined!
